Saddam Hussein
I woke up especially early to celebrate Eid, only to be hugely disappointed by the news of the late Saddam's execution. I have to say that it was a cruel decision, one that lack sensitivity, to hasten the day of execution to one of Muslims' Big day. HUGE mistake i say.
Being the "moderate" Muslims of the world, we are expected to possess the reticence and respect the decision, otherwise be stamped terrorists....but i am pretty sure the unrest that is about to metastasize is not easy to palliate. seriously.
All day today, images of the noose around his neck kept flashing in my head and i wondered why they resorted to this very day. A rumination that I hope will lead to a blessing behind this all.
Strangely, Saddam Hussein held a significant place in my heart, ever since I saw him when I was in Primary One, as the man who took time off to be on his knees during the Iraq war. He left a great impression on me and I'm sure he has paid for his sins on this world. Insya-Allah.
and a great lesson I learnt from my Aceh trip, from another man I respect and adored, is that one must always think positive for the past will not return. Laa Tahzan wa Laa Tabkii.
So, with that, I plead, let us all recite Al-Fateha in memory of Saddam Hussein. *Al-Fateha*
Till my next entry...the one on Aceh definiely! :) Salam Aidil Adha
